The Broncos completed their second trade of the week when they sent defensive lineman Christian Covington to the Cincinnati Bengals for linebacker Austin Calitro, a source confirmed.
Calitro, 26, has played 516 defensive snaps and 429 special teams snaps the last two years for Seattle and Jacksonville.
By trading Covington, it likely means the Broncos were going to cut him by Saturday’s 2 p.m. deadline. And it could also be good news for DeMarcus Walker if the Broncos opt to keep six defensive linemen.
Calitro will provide inside linebacker depth and special teams ability — he played 196 special teams snaps last year for Jacksonville.
