The Broncos will hire Greg Williams as a defensive backs coach, an NFL source confirmed, with his focus likely on the cornerbacks. Williams was the Indianapolis Colts‘ defensive backs coach the last two seasons and was previously an assistant on the Chargers’ defensive staff for seven years, coaching the linebackers and later the secondary.
In Denver, Williams joins Marcus Robertson, a safety-focused defensive backs coach who was hired in 2016 on Vance Joseph‘s original staff.
The team parted with six assistants after their 5-11 season, including assistant defensive backs coach Johnnie Lynn.
