ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos signed Thomas Gafford, a 10-year veteran long snapper, to the active roster on Friday. To make room, the Broncos waived second-year NT Darius Kilgo.
Gafford's addition is insurance for the Broncos' special teams with Casey Kreiter's status up in the air for Sunday's game against the Chiefs. Kreiter was limited in Wednesday's practice with a calf injury and was held out of Thursday's practice.
Gafford originally found a foothold in the NFL in 2008 with the Chiefs when long snapper J.P. Darche was placed on injured reserve.
