Broncos running game waiting for return of Virgil Green, Donald Stephenson

While the Broncos added a significant player to their infirmary this week with quarterback Trevor Siemian nursing a bum nonthrowing shoulder, they also made room by pushing players back on the field.

Tight end Virgil Green and right tackle Donald Stephenson, two key front-line players in the Broncos’ now-stuttering running game, practiced in limited time Wednesday at Dove Valley. Both suffered calf injuries three weeks ago against the Indianapolis Colts and both missed the past two games.

“They both took a step toward playing this weekend,” Denver coach Gary Kubiak said. Stephenson took on more activity in practice then Green, but both are angling toward returning Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons at Sports Authority Field.
