Since getting gouged for a season-high 269 yards on the ground by the Jaguars’ Leonard Fournette in Week 4, the Broncos run defense has been trending upwards.
Denver, which stood at 0-4 and ranked 30th in the NFL in rush defense at 149.3 yards per game, has become stout against the run in its past five games. The Broncos’ rush defense has allowed 100-plus yards just once in that time while improving to 107.6 yards per game, 17th in the league.
But the last month of progress will be put to the test Sunday in Minnesota. The underdog Broncos face the NFL’s top rusher in the Vikings’ Dalvin Cook, who has 991 rushing yards on a league-high 203 attempts.
