Broncos rookie tight end Austin Fort tore his ACL in Thursday’s preseason game against the Seahawks, according to a league source, and will miss the season.

The undrafted Wyoming rookie went down in the fourth quarter after making a catch and had to be carted off. Injuries to Jake Butt and Bug Howard had allowed Fort to get some playing time.

Fort, 24, began his college career as a quarterback, first at Wyoming, and later at Chabot (Calif.) Community College.

ESPN first reported the ACL tear.

Broncos’ undrafted free agent TE Austin Fort, who was challenging for a roster spot and playing time, tore his ACL last night in Seattle and is out for the season, per source.
