The move wasn't personal. Max Garcia knows it and general manager John Elway confirmed it.
The Broncos' signing of Pro Bowl guard Evan Mathis this week was a coup. Rare is it that a player of Mathis' caliber is available on the open market for so long and this late into the preseason.
But his arrival pushed Garcia, the Broncos' fourth-round pick, out of a starting job.
"We were able to work out a deal that was beneficial for him and also beneficial for us," Elway said Thursday. "We're just very young, and so I think we need a little bit of experience, especially on that left side.
