Broncos promote RB Juwan Thompson to active roster

After losing C.J. Anderson to a knee injury, the Broncos on Saturday signed running back Juwan Thompson from the practice squad.

Anderson underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair the meniscus in his right knee last Thursday and will have to miss at least eight weeks on injured reserve — should he return at all this season.

Thompson, who was placed on the practice squad this season, provides depth at multiple spots for the Broncos. The third-year back played 30 career regular-season games at running back in his first two seasons with the Broncos, recording 320 yards and three touchdowns on 72 carries.
