INDIANAPOLIS — Ahead of their Thursday night game against the Colts, the Broncos promoted practice-squad safety Dymonte Thomas to the active roster, filling the vacancy left by Justin Simmons. Simmons was placed on injured reserve Wednesday because of an ankle sprain he suffered in the Broncos’ win over the New York Jets last Sunday.
Thomas, a 6-foot-2, 199-pound undrafted rookie out of Michigan, signed with the Broncos after the draft in May and competed with the team in training camp and preseason, when he impressed with a 58-yard pick-six in the team’s home win against the Cardinals.
