After making three outside-the-organization hires to the front office earlier this week, Broncos general manager George Paton stayed in-house Friday in promoting assistant college scouting director Darren Mougey to director of player personnel.
The 36-year-old Mougey, who is entering his 10th year with the Broncos, will serve as Paton’s No. 2, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the pro and college scouting departments.
“Darren is an outstanding evaluator who has an excellent reputation around the league as an up-and-coming personnel executive,” Paton said in a statement. “Getting to work with Darren over the last five months, he is a strong communicator and has great leadership qualities.
