In his most authoritative comments about the Broncos’ future, CEO/president Joe Ellis said Monday that if Brittany Bowlen does not rise to the role of controlling owner, the next move would be to put the team up for sale.
Brittany Bowlen, 29, re-joined the Broncos on Dec. 2 as vice president of strategic initiatives, viewed as the first step to her gaining the necessary experience to eventually replace her late father, Pat.
In October 2013, Pat Bowlen notified the NFL of his intention to step down as controlling owner and placed the day-to-day responsibilities with a three-person trust: Ellis, team counsel Rich Slivka and local attorney Mary Kelly.
