When the Denver Broncos took offensive tackle Garett Bolles with their top pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, they made offensive line coach Jeff Davidson a very happy man. After spending primary free agent assets on Ronald Leary (guard) and Menelik Watson (tackle) to upgrade the line, the Broncos finished their overhaul of the starting line with Bolles.
It was a pick that had Davidson ‘beaming’.
Davidson says drafting someone in the first round is ‘no different’ if they were taken in the seventh round as far as how they are coached and how guys are tasked with earning their positions.
