With the signing of Evan Mathis Tuesday afternoon, the Denver Broncos figured to release a player in order to make room for him. The player the team released was one that surprised quite a few.
The Broncos announced that they have released veteran place kicker Connor Barth in order to make room for Evan Mathis. The seven year veteran was signed by the Broncos late last year after the team was displeased with Brandon McManus’ 9-for-13 performance on field goals.
The move means that Brandon McManus, for now, has won the competition at placekicker. He also has a strong leg, which means that he could be the team’s kickoff specialist.
