The hand-wringing and head-banging has begun.
A second loss, another week of bad offense, and more feigned accountability from the head coach.
“Offensively, we were not near good enough,” Sean Payton said in his opening remarks to the press. “It was disappointing. I just finished telling the coaches that that side of the ball needs to get cleaned up. That starts with me.”
Perhaps it was sincere. After all, this is Payton’s team and he is supposed to be the offensive guru who can make this happen even with a room of young, inexperienced guys.
The coach could have been accused of being somewhat of a Bo Nix Apologist last week as he blamed about everyone except the rookie for the loss in Seattle — and it was certainly fair to levy some blame on the offensive line and the vision of the running backs.
