Relief efforts in Houston in the wake of Hurricane Harvey are a personal matter for Emmanuel Sanders, the Broncos’ receiver who grew up some 70 miles west of Houston, in Bellville, and attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
He still has family in the area. He still has friends in the area. He still calls Houston home.
Sanders announced Wednesday that he and his fellow players have raised about $70,000 to donate to victims of Hurricane Harvey and that the team has matched, dollar for dollar.
“We have the platform and the availability to give help and offer help and it’s great to have guys like Emmanuel,” tight end Virgil Green said.
