Broncos look to silence critics with improved running game

Nobody runs from criticism in the NFL. Especially teams that don't run well. The Broncos forged back-to-back steel gut victories, but did little to silence doubts about their blended offense.

After two weeks of sputtering, many fans are asking if it's time to return to last year's attack. Go three wide, let it fly and make sure the Arabian gelding Thunder has an oxygen mask for touchdown sprints.

Broncos coach Gary Kubiak remains committed to running the football, seeking a physical identity and mindset. He is not advocating three yards and a cloud of, um, rust. And Peyton Manning is not interested in throwing 45 times a game.
