A source said veteran NFL assistant coach John Pagano was at the Broncos’ facility Thursday interviewing for the outside linebackers coach position vacated when Brandon Staley left to become the Los Angeles Rams’ defensive coordinator.
From 1999-2001, Pagano was a defensive assistant for Indianapolis when current Broncos coach Vic Fangio was the Colts’ defensive coordinator.
Pagano, 52, was the Houston Texans’ senior defensive assistant/outside linebackers coach for the last two years but was dismissed on Jan. 18. He has 24 years of NFL experience, including five years as a coordinator (2012-16 with the Chargers).
Pagano grew up in Boulder and attended Fairview High School and Mesa State and is the younger brother of former Indianapolis coach/current Chicago defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano, who interviewed for the Broncos’ opening last January.
