Broncos Insider: So Denver’s 2-2. Should there be cause for concern? History says yes.

The Broncos lost a heartbreaking game at home to the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday, dropping their record to 2-2 on the season. Since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970, Denver has started 2-2 a total 10 times, according to pro-football-reference.com.

In those first nine seasons, they’ve finished with eight or more wins five times (1983, 1985, 1995, 2000, 2012). Of those five, they’ve made three playoff appearances (1983, 2000, 2012), but were bounced in each of their first game — including that shocking 38-35 loss in double overtime to the Ravens in Peyton Manning’s first year here.
