Austin “Goose” Gonsoulin was a fierce competitor for the Denver Broncos who was one of the only defensive stalwarts over those early Broncos teams of the 1960s. He was an interception machine at safety and was the first in a long line of great safety’s in Denver.
He would set the record for most interceptions in team history in 1960 with 11 and it remains the longest standing record in Broncos history. Champ Bailey came close with 10 interceptions in 2006. Goose is also one of a handful of NFL players ever to nab four interceptions in one game.
