You can’t tell the story of those 1980’s Denver Broncos AFC Championship teams without mentioning LB/DE Simon Fletcher. In a time of NFC dominance, the AFC and the Broncos had a legitimate monster on the roster.
Drafted in the second round of the 1985 draft, 54th overall, Simon Fletcher came to the Broncos out of Houston. Were it not for Elvis Dumervil and Von Miller, his name would still appear at the top of many Broncos records.
Fletcher’s 97.5 sacks was a franchise record until Von Miller broke it playing against the Browns in 2018.
