Towards the end of John Elway’s career, the Denver Broncos front office got serious about protecting him. In 1993 the Broncos traded away significant draft capital to obtain Minnesota Vikings left tackle, Gary Zimmerman. The Broncos would then acquire Mark Schlereth the next year.
