With a pair of trades ahead of finalizing the 53-man roster deadline, general manager George Paton addressed a lack of depth at one spot, and leveraged the Broncos’ depth at another.
Paton acquired linebacker Jonas Griffith and a 2022 seventh-round pick from the 49ers in exchange for a 2022 sixth-rounder and a 2023 seventh-rounder in an attempt to solidify Denver’s shaky special teams.
“What really stood out from (Griffith) from watching the preseason tape was his special teams play,” Paton said. “He can run. He can fly. He’s really going to help our special teams and I think we need help on special teams.
