Los Angeles (AFP) - Denver Broncos defensive end Antonio Smith is being investigated for alleged child abuse by authorities in Texas, celebrity website TMZ and the Denver Post reported Thursday.
Smith, 33, signed a one-year National Football League contract worth $2 million with the Broncos last month. He spent last season with the Oakland Raiders and played from 2009 through 2013 with the Houston Texans.
Smith, who was named to the Pro Bowl all-star game in 2011, is familiar with changes to the Denver defensive system being made by a new coaching staff and has 44 sacks in 155 career NFL games.
