Phil Taylor’s short run with the Broncos is over. The veteran defensive tackle and former first-round draft pick was cut Wednesday, less than two weeks after the team placed him on injured reserve.
Taylor sustained a knee injury early in training camp and never returned to the field. The Broncos put him on IR and used his roster spot to sign veteran defensive end Billy Winn.
The Broncos signed Taylor in February with the hope he would compete with Sylvester Williams and Darius Kilgo at nose tackle, and provide depth on a defensive line that would later lose Malik Jackson and Antonio Smith in free agency.
