The Denver Broncos have been busy clearing up cap space as they prepare for free agency in a few weeks. First they cut veteran cornerback A.J. Bouye two weeks ago, then moved forward with cutting another veteran defensive player in defensive lineman Jurrell Casey on Thursday.
Both moves were more about preparing the salary cap than it was an indictment on either player’s actual play last season. They were both serviceable, but with young players behind them it makes sense to move on. Bouye cleared out $13.2 million in cap space, while releasing Casey has freed up another $11.
