In a lengthy statement released by the Broncos on Wednesday, coach Vic Fangio clarified his comments from a day earlier that racism and discrimination weren’t prevalent in the NFL.
A source said Wednesday was the first time Fangio addressed the team about George Floyd’s murder because president/CEO Joe Ellis led Tuesday’s team meeting. The full text of Fangio’s statement:
“After reflecting on my comments yesterday and listening to the players this morning, I realize what I said regarding racism and discrimination in the NFL was wrong. While I have never personally experienced those terrible things first-hand during my 33 years in the NFL, I understand that many players, coaches and staff have different perspectives.
