Broncos change up Courtland Sutton’s contract to create cap space

Good morning, Broncos Country.

In the wake of the massive contract extension for Patrick Surtain II, the Denver Broncos and Courtland Sutton came to an agreement on a revised contract.

According to Broncos insider Mike Klis, the Broncos converted $11.875 million dollars of Sutton’s base salary of $13 million for the 2024 season into an upfront bonus. In total, the team will save $9.5 million in cap space and be compliant in that regard for the ‘24 campaign. With this move, the Broncos have roughly $7.5 million in cap space per Spotrac which is significantly more prior to both deals being done.
