LONDON — In a roiling restaurant just south of the London Bridge on Friday night, Broncos fans cheered, chanted, ate and drank. They roared when a panel featuring general manager George Paton, president Damani Leech and Hall of Famer Steve Atwater took their places.
But in addition to passion and enthusiasm in Broncos Country, there is also angst and anger at a 2-5 start and a stuck-in-the-mud offense guided by a struggling first-time head coach.
When Greg Penner, the franchise’s CEO and part of the new Walton-Penner Family Ownership Group, stopped to talk with a small group of reporters, he made it clear he understands the gravity of that struggle.
