Four days after the Broncos became only the sixth team in 21 years to have a 20-play drive end without points, offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur lamented the loss to Kansas City in general and the long possession in particular.
“We’ve just got to take full advantage of the opportunities when we’re there,” he said before practice Thursday. “A nice, long drive. Converted two fourth downs, got to the last fourth down and didn’t execute it. That takes points off the board right there.”
A touchdown to conclude the drive would have tied the game at 10. Instead, running back Javonte Williams was stopped on fourth-and-2 at the Chiefs’ 8, Kansas City kept its 10-3 lead and won 22-9.
