TAMPA, Fla. — Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall took a knee during the national anthem before facing the Buccaneers on Sunday. Since the start of the regular season, Marshall has joined 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and others in the NFL and across all levels of sports in protesting against social injustice in the United States.
Shortly after his protest in the season opener against Carolina, Marshall met with Denver police chief Robert White and has since vowed to donate $300 for every tackle he makes this season to local charities that address social issues. He entered Sunday’s game with a team-high 19 total tackles, for a tab of $5,700.
