The Broncos began making their cuts Friday to reach the 53-man roster limit, releasing many players who were heavy contributors Thursday night at Arizona. Early cuts were headlined by do-it-all back Juwan Thompson.

Thompson, who confirmed he was cut, had made the roster each of the past two seasons and was competing in the Broncos running back rotation. He was a heavy special teams contributor, with the versatility to play running back and fullback.

Other players waived, according to NFL sources, include outside linebackers Vontarrius Dora and Sadat Sulleyman, receiver Kalif Raymond, defensive tackle Kyle Peko, along with cornerbacks Taurean Nixon and John Tidwell.
