MINNEAPOLIS — Throughout the past two weeks, as quarterbacks Teddy Bridgewater and Drew Lock swapped decent and poor practices, Broncos coach Vic Fangio maintained he didn’t have a bad problem on his hands. Both players had made progress and his choice to start against the New York Giants on Sept. 12 in the regular-season opener wouldn’t be by default, he pointed out.
Saturday’s 33-6 shellacking of the Minnesota Vikings proved Fangio correct … at least for now.
Lock started and completed five of his seven passes for 151 yards and two touchdowns in three possessions. Bridgewater followed and was 7-of-8 passing for 75 yards and one touchdown in two drives in the preseason opener for both teams.
