Vikings receiver Bisi Johnson, a Lakewood native who attended Bear Creek High School and Colorado State, is having a fine rookie year.
A seventh-round pick, Johnson has 18 catches for 190 yards and two touchdowns in 327 offensive snaps. His playing time has increased recently because of veteran Adam Thielen’s hamstring injury.
“(Johnson) kind of looks like he’s been studying Thielen and trying to be, ‘Thielen The Second,’” Broncos coach Vic Fangio said.
Vikings coach Mike Zimmer credited former Broncos coach Gary Kubiak, currently Minnesota’s assistant head coach/offensive advisor, for suggesting Johnson.
“Quite honestly, Gary was the one who kind of brought him to our attention because he had seen him in the past; that kind of put him on the radar with us,” Zimmer said.
