BOCA RATON, fla — Free-agent Danny Trevathan's exit to Chicago was predictable and inevitable. The Broncos liked the inside linebacker, but didn't view him as a three-down player going forward. That is not the case with linebacker Brandon Marshall. Denver placed a second-round tender on Marshall as a restricted free agent, dissuading teams from signing him to an offer sheet.
Broncos general manager John Elway said Monday that he would like to keep Marshall as a core player going forward. Marshall and his reprentatives are open to a long-term deal, but signing outside linebacker Von Miller remains Denver's top priority.
