MOBILE, Ala. — John Elway and Dan Marino stood along the sideline at the 50-yard marker and stared. For nearly two hours their eyes followed every move of Baker Mayfield and Josh Allen on Tuesday as the two quarterbacks continued their months-long audition for the pros. They watched their throws, they watched their footwork, watched their sprints back to the lineup, their high-fives to teammates, their defensive reads and their general comprehension of the pro drills and changes in style.
The Broncos already had an informal introduction to Allen during a North team meeting on Monday, and Elway had already made a trip to Idaho to watch the Wyoming quarterback guide his team to a Potato Bowl victory in December.
