Here’s a look at what’s happening around the NFC in Week 17:
Year of the RB. Entering Sunday, the top four rushers in the league are from the NFC — Dallas’ Ezekiel Elliott (1,434 yards), the Rams’ Todd Gurley (1,251), the Giants’ Saquon Barkley (1,198) and Carolina’s Christian McCaffrey (1,080). The commonality among the quartet is they were all first-round draft picks. In the last 20 years, the top four rushers being from the same conference has happened only three times — 2002 (AFC), 2008 (NFC) and 2015 (NFC).
Dallas’ rebound. When the Cowboys were thumped 28-14 by Tennessee in a Monday night home game to fall to 3-5, we thought Jason Garrett would be on the list of candidates to end up with the Broncos.
