Antonio Smith, back at the Broncos facility after missing much of the team's offseason workouts, quickly remembered what so many often overlook about Denver.
"The altitude," he said. "It isn't my friend."
Which is why coach Gary Kubiak and the Broncos are taking it slowly. Smith, who signed a one-year, $2 million contract with the Broncos in the April to bolster their defensive line, spent Day 1 of training camp running through light drills and working with trainers.
Smith knows the defense, having played with Kubiak, defensive coordinator Wade Phillips and defensive line coach Bill Kollar in Houston.
