First a Super Bowl ring. Now a key to his home city and a day in his honor.
DeMarcus Ware, an Auburn, Ala., native and Troy University Sports Hall of Famer, will be honored by his home state on April 19, soon to be known as “DeMarcus Ware Day,” the school announced.
That morning, Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley will hold a special proclamation ceremony at the capitol and Ware will address a joint session of the Alabama Legislature.
Ware, who attended Auburn High and is Troy’s career record-holder in tackles for loss (55), will be the first Super Bowl winner to be honored with a special proclamation by the state.
