Even though the Broncos had completed their fourth consecutive season out of the playoffs less than 24 hours before, general manager John Elway was riding a wave of optimism at the end of 2019.
“I think, with the youth that we have on this team and with (quarterback) Drew (Lock) coming in and playing like he did, it feels like we’ve bounced off the bottom and now we’re heading up,” Elway said Dec. 30. “I think it’s exciting looking forward to next year and what we can do as far as free agency as well as in the draft.
