Ball is behind C.J. Anderson and Ronnie Hillman on the depth chart. He battled injuries last year and only played in five games. The former second round pick has 731 yards and five TDs in his career.
The Cowboys currently have Joseph Randle, Darren McFadden and Lance Dunbar on the roster. Randle is unproven, McFadden has constantly battled injuries. Dunbar is more of a third-down back.
No word yet on what the compensation would be for Dallas acquiring Ball.
UPDATE:
One Cowboys' beat writer says there haven't been any trade talks.
