The Denver Broncos head into Week 14 at 10-2, three games ahead of the second-place Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West with four to play. How will things finish out for the Broncos. Here's our projection for the final four weeks.
vs. Oakland Raiders (December 13th)
The Raiders have faded to the fringes of the AFC Playoff chase with losses in three of four, including a brutal finish to their 34-20 loss to the Chiefs last week. Three turnovers in quick succession basically handed Kansas City the game, leaving a bunch of Raiders players and fans with extremely long faces. Expect the Broncos defense to take advantage of a demoralized Raiders squad early and often, forcing Derek Carr mistakes for the Broncos to capitalize on.
Win -- 30-14 (11-2)
@ Pittsburgh Steelers (December 20th)
We're projecting this as the last game of Brock Osweiler's regular season, with a Peyton Manning return sending him back to the bench in Week 16. This is an extremely tough road game to go out on. Pittsburgh will clip the Broncos in a tight one, strengthen their AFC Playoff positioning with a close win.
Loss -- 24-21 (11-3)
vs. Cincinnati Bengals (December 28th)
Andy Dalton on the road in prime time? In late December? No, thank you. Denver clinches a first-round bye with a healthy home win in Peyton Manning's return to action. Manning will be a little rusty, but he'll do enough to keep the Bengals at bay.
Win -- 23-13 (12-3)
vs. San Diego Chargers (January 3rd)
Here's where Peyton Manning puts on a show and puts rumors of a potential playoff benching to bed. San Diego's defense is absolutely terrible, and they'll be going through the motions in a road season finale. This one is going to get ugly.
Win -- 44-7 (13-3)
Final outlook:
The New England Patriots will lose one more game to fall to 13-3, losing the #1 overall seed to the Broncos due to a head-to-head tiebreaker. Denver heads into the divisional round with home-field advantage guaranteed up to the Super Bowl.
