Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning will miss at least the next two weeks to continue recovering from a torn plantar fascia in his right foot, the team announced today. Manning was advised by Dr. Robert Anderson to spend a week or more in a walking cast.
“Peyton and I had a good visit today, and we’ve got a plan in place for his recovery,” head coach Gary Kubiak said. “His foot will be in a cast for at least a week, but he’ll be able to be part of meetings and do some workouts with the rest of the team.
“We expect him to be unavailable for at least a couple of games. We’ll proceed from there and will continue to support him as he does everything he can to get healthy.”
Manning will miss Denver's next two games against the New England Patriots and the San Diego Chargers, and maybe more. Kubiak has previously said that Manning will regain his starting job when he returns.
Backup Brock Osweiler was impressive in this first career start, passing for 250 yards and two touchdowns while leading Denver to a 17-15 road win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday. He will continue to start in Manning's absence.
