The Denver Broncos are diving headfirst into the offseason, and the team's first priority is re-signing its own players. They have several key contributors they need to bring back next season - but also those they need they need to get rid of to create cap space. Here are three notable players the Broncos may cut this offseason:
OT Russell Okung
Okung was never going to be anything more than a stopgap at left tackle for the Broncos, and he didn't do anything to make himself stand out with Denver last year. He's on the books for $11.7 million next year, all of which the Broncos can save by cutting him. They are expected to do that and use that money to pursue a difference maker along the offensive line.
TE Virgil Green
Green is currently owed $3.3 million next season, and he has not proven to be worth that kid of money. He caught just 22 passes for 237 yards and a touchdown last season, all of which were career highs. It's time to look elsewhere for a tight end.
WR Cody Latimer
Another player who has largely underachieved throughout his career, Latimer caught just eight passes for 76 yards last year. He is Denver's third highest-paid receiver at just under $1.2 million, yet he is buried on the depth chart and isn't productive. The Broncos can find a player to replace him as a returner for much cheaper.
