The Denver Broncos are now looking for a head coach following news of Gary Kubiak retiring for health reasons, making them the premier job opening on the market. Denver's defense is loaded, John Elway has proven himself as a general manager and there's the QB of the future in Paxton Lynch. So, who are the Broncos targeting to replace Kubiak? Here's all the latest news & rumors you need to know.
Kyle Shanahan the early favorite
Denver's first interview request following the Kubiak news was for Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter:
An Elway-Shanahan connection again? Broncos have requested permission to interview Falcons OC Kyle Shanahan, per source.

That would signal that Shanahan is at the top of Elway's list, and the two have a connection since Elway played for Kyle's dad, Mike Shanahan, and won two Super Bowls under him.
Elway won't promote an assistant coach
Shanahan leads a list of three or four candidates that Denver is eyeing, and none of them are current Broncos assistants, according to ESPN's Ed Werder:
John Elway said there are 3 or 4 potential head coaching prospects who would excite him, none are current Denver assistants

John Elway doesn't believe QB is team's biggest offseason issue _ a change from 2016. Made it clear offense has to match level of defense
