The Denver Broncos will stick with Brock Osweiler as the team's starting QB, despite Peyton Manning returning to practice this week. Head coach Gary Kubiak spoke with both QBs to tell them of the team's plan for this week.
Denver will go with Osweiler for the fifth straight game against the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday. Denver is 3-1 with Osweiler starting in place of the injured Manning. Osweiler has completed 63 percent of his passes for 1,140 yards, 5 TDs and 3 picks this season.
The running game has been better with Osweiler at the helm. That's likely because the Broncos' running scheme works better with a QB under center than a QB in the shotgun. Manning had operated almost exclusively out of the shotgun or pistol this season.
Manning is expected to return to practice Wednesday. It's the first time Manning will practice in over a month as he recovers from a foot injury. Manning struggled badly during his time as the starter. He completed 59.9 percent of his passes for 2,180 yards, 9 TDs and 17 picks. Before going down, Manning was on pace to throw his most picks since his rookie year.
