The Denver Broncos may very well have tight end Julius Thomas back earlier than expected from what was thought to be a severe ankle injury.
Per Mike Klis of the Denver Post, "the early diagnosis is the ankle injury to Broncos tight end Julius Thomas is not as bad as initially feared, according to an NFL source."
According to Klis, Thomas underwent an MRI exam Monday morning. At this point, it might be pushing it for Thomas to play on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins in the Broncos' first home game at Sports Authority Field in a month.
However, his official injury status in day-to-day - a development that is likely to be accompanied by a sigh of relief for both Broncos coaches and fans.
Thomas injured his ankle during the first quarter of Denver's 22-7 road loss to the St. Louis Rams on Sunday. He did not return to the game.
