Denver and Buffalo played a surprisingly close first half, but a C.J. Anderson rushing touchdown gave the Broncos a 14-3 lead going into halftime. They continued to dominate in the second half, as the Bills were never able to get anything going.
Turning Point:
Denver scored a touchdown on their first drive of the second half on Anderson's third TD run of the day, giving them a 21-3 lead. The Broncos were able to score on their last drive of the first half and first drive of the second half turning a close game into a blowout.
Key Stat:
The Broncos were intent on running the ball a lot in this game, which they did. They called 29 rushing plays compared to 20 passing plays, which is unusual for a team that has Peyton Manning under center. It was successful as Anderson and Denver's other backs routinely gashed the Bills defense, but this marked the first time in Manning's last 52 games that he didn't throw a touchdown pass.
Denver MVP:
Anderson gets this award for his three touchdowns and gaining 58 yards on 21 carries.
Buffalo MVP:
Rookie wideout Sammy Watkins had a big day in a losing effort, catching seven passes for 127 yards.
