Wide receiver Eric Decker left the Denver Broncos during the offseason to join the New York Jets as a free agent, but he admitted to having regrets about that decision every once in a while to ProFootballTalk.
“Honestly, sometimes it’s hard to watch them when they’re playing,” Decker told the New York Daily News. “When they’re clicking on all cylinders, they’re a tough football team. They got the right pieces.
One of those pieces is Emmanuel Sanders, whom the Broncos signed to replace Decker in the starting lineup. Sanders is enjoying a career year with Denver, ranking fifth in the NFL in receiving with 954 yards.
Decker has struggled with the 2-8 Jets, catching 43 passes for 450 yards and four touchdowns.
"Emmanuel Sanders is playing well in my spot, so to speak,” he said. “Sometimes, you know, it’s tough to see all the success. But that’s football. It’s going to go in swings. Who says we can’t be a great football team? We got to obviously do some right things to get there, but I’m happy for Peyton and Demaryius [Thomas]. I respect them so much. They’re all good friends, so I like to see them do well, but sometimes it’s hard.”
The 7-3 Denver Broncos host the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, and the New York Jets will face the Buffalo Bills in Detroit on Monday night.
