With the lockout finally being lifted, free agency has ensued at an alarming pace. Donovan NcNabb apparently has found a home in Minnesota, Matt Hasselbeck is headed to Tennessee, and Santonio Holmes has re-signed to stay with the Jets.
In related Broncos news, Kyle Orton appears headed to Miami after the Orlando Sun Sentinel has reported that the Dolphins are in contract negotiations with Orton in exchange for draft picks and/or cash. On top of that, ESPN.com is reporting that highly regarded Eagles quarterback Kevin Kolb is likely to be dealt to the Cardinals, as Orton no longer seems available and is the Dolphins top priority. Miami has reportedly said it is willing to give Denver more than originally proposed for Orton because the Broncos are gaining leverage with recent market transactions around the league.

Also of note is the recent happening of a highly touted running back on the market, as DeAngelo Williams has reportedly re-signed with Carolina for $43 million over 5 years, a stiff blow to many Broncos supporters. The other running back of high interest is former Raven Willis McGahee, a former teammate of DJ Williams at the University of Miami. At 29, McGahee still has the ability to score and be an effective all-purpose back alongside Knowshon Moreno. He is a lower cost option than Williams, which is even more encouraging for the cash-strapped Broncos.
Fans had hoped for a signing of a big-name defensive tackle, but one of the two has already found a home. Mike Shanahan and the Redskins agreed to terms with New York Giants DT Barry Cofield, leaving the other top target, Brandon Mebane from the Seahawks, seemingly the Broncos top priority along with McGahee. The other option that could be more likely at this point, is for Denver to re-sign Justin Bannan and/or Jamal Williams, who were both previously cut to save cash, and re-sign DE/DT Marcus Thomas.
