The Denver Broncos might have a new coach, but they’ll be trying not to change too much about the formula that brought them three straight 12-win seasons.
Heading into the 2015 NFL Draft, there are still a few areas Denver will look to improve. Expiring contracts, aging stars and free agency have left the Broncos with a few areas they can address – who are they targeting to fill those needs?
OL La’el Collins, LSU
Denver is looking to sure up their offensive line to help keep quarterback Peyton Manning healthy, obviously their top priority. Collins has the size, strength, and footwork to be an impact player right away on the next level, and he’d be an immediate upgrade for the Broncos.
LB Denzel Perryman, Miami
Denver’s linebacking core is in need of inside depth and help stopping the run. Add in a blue-chip prospect, and the Broncos could post top-ten finishes in rushing and passing yards allowed next season – putting them in great shape in their quest to make their way back to the Super Bowl. Perryman doesn’t have elite speed or athleticism, but his strength, acceleration, and instincts have drawn comparisons to London Fletcher, and he should be available in the second or third round.
TE Maxx Williams, Minnesota
Denver has a major hole to fill at tight end with the departure of Julius Thomas, and Williams is the best on the board. The Broncos desperately need a reliable pass catcher over the middle, and Williams would give that to them right away.
